Aviation Opportunities Through Cadets

Many pilots, astronauts, aircraft maintenance crews and technicians have been in Air Cadets. Chris Hadfield was an air cadet as well as other astronauts, and many members of our RCAF were air cadets when they were younger.


Cadet summer camps offer a wide range of options in the aviation industry. They include:
  • ​Basic and Advanced Aviation Courses: The basics and more advanced of aviation, using the knowledge you can apply for Glider and Power pilot scholarships. 
  • Basic Aviation and Aerospace Course, Advanced Aviation Technology -Airport Operations and Advanced Aviation Technology Aircraft Maintenance: The basics and more advanced courses of Maintenance and Airport Operations.
  • Glider Pilot Scholarship: A scholarship that requires an interview and test to be considered. Learning how to fly gliders and finish with a glider pilot licence.
  • Power Pilot Scholarship:  A scholarship that requires an interview and test to be considered. Learning how to fly powered aircraft and finish with a power pilot licence.

Also Cadets can attend camps in Survival Training, Rifle training and Advanced Drill Training. They Include:
  • Basic Drill And Ceremonial, Leadership And Ceremonial Instructor: The basics and more advanced part of Drill and Leadership, an overall course about drill, advanced drill, leadership and marksmanship. In Instructor, more of an advanced course and more on leadership with a team setting. Instead of Marksmanship, Rifle drill with blanks is taught.
  • Basic Survival, Survival Instructor: The basics and more advance part of learning how to survive in the wilderness, navigation, survival and search and rescue. With Instructor, skills are continued and to be developed. First aid and instructional technique are added.
